..... had "Bugs Henderson". I went and bought every CD I could find. Great memories of our phone call.
He asked me how someone in California knew his music, and I told him I Googled him! We had a laugh over that.
I've even built a radio station on Pandora by his name.
Miss ya, Bugs. Close
Enjoyed his Playing / Bob Herren (None)
Picked up several of his CD at used store and enjoyed them so much I started researching the Great Music Man.
Had 1st heard him on the Mar Y Sol Live Lp with John Nitzinger and was wowed!
Then got the Live CD and 1-Other and traveled up to Ned to see my son play some Football.
Enjoyed his great playing and creativeness.
Did pickup the Black and Blue Nit LP's just recently.
Story, I also spoke with Johnathan Edwards (Sunshine)at a Flo and Eddie Oldie Show and he remembers hanging with Bugs backstage at MyS and what a great guy he was. JE also had an impressive performance on that LP that turned me on to him as well if you have not checked the LP out.

My Memory of Bugs / Jack Dillon (Fan)
A few years back Bugs came to Fort Smith and played at the Rib Room. My wife and I got there just before he and the band were scheduled to start. The place was packed and as we entered I thought, we will never find a table. I scanned the room and could not believe it, an empty table right in front of the stage. We seated and Bugs began playing. The music was great but several songs into the set Bugs stopped as the majority of the crowd was too busy flapping their jaws to even listen to the music. I recall Bugs looking around the venue and stating: Except for small group up front I don't know where the rest of you are. But I know what's going to happen. Around midnight I'll be finishing up and you will want me to keep playing. Well.....
He then started back playing and what a great show we enjoyed. Will always remember that night and what a great show some of us emjoyed. We miss you Bugs. Close

Remembering Bugs / Willis L. Patton Jr. (Old Fan! )
The 1st time I saw Bugs Henderson was in Austin at the Armadillo .He played before Freddie King.I saw Bugs a couple more times down there.I saw him at Pearls Oyster Bar in Austin one night and I was with some freinds at a table up front. They talked me into playing my harp at the table.I remember the song Bugs was playing was Judi Likes The Blues.I guess Bugs liked my playing and ask me up on the next song.I wish I had a photo from that! I was talking with his bass player at a break and he said I was in the wrong key.The last time I saw Bugs at Bums in Temple,Tx. I told him about that ,Bugs said his bass player probably didnt' know. But I think he probably did.Bugs' wife was selling his cd's at Bums' that night and got him to sign a cd for me and I took a couple photos.I would like to say thankyou to Bugs' wife.Bugs always took the time to talk or have a photo taken. What a great guitar player and a great man! God Bless Yall, Willis

I first found Bugs when I bought a friends record collection. In it was a copy of "Live at the Armadillo". I was hooked, Bugs was still touring through Tulsa and I caught his act at least 8 times at Joey's. Over a few years after that I caught him a few more times. What a showman he was one of the true blue pickets in the American music scene! Bugs I will miss you sir! Your tunes will live forever!!

I came to see Bugs live every chance I had....ever since I moved to Dallas in '78. He always delivered what I wanted-great guitar with feeling and exceptional tone while playing blues, rock, country in the original style and personalized flavor that only Bugs could immulate. His talent was immense. Best of all he was such a genuine human being and family man. Bugs, you'll be sorely missed, but never forgotten. Rest in peace my friend. My thoughts and prayers go out to Patty and his family.... Close
I met Bugs years ago at a guitar show and we talked abit and started emailing back and forth. He always had something enlightening and entertaining to say, though he was a man of few words.I never knew he'd taken ill and he never let on.We just talked guitars, amps, famous guitarists he knew and played with and non musical issues as well.He had a great sense of humor too, even jokingly advising me to become a lawyer instead of continuing on as a musician because we were struggling to find a good singer and bass player for my band.Ted Nugent actually told me he'd passed away and it came as a shock because he was so full of life and played so well last time I saw him.My yahoo always alerted me that he was playing word racer and I used to laugh, thinking of him staring into a screen playing a computer game like a kid, but he dug that game. He'll be missed and I treasure the time I got to communicate with such a awesome Texas legendary guitarist as Bugs.

I've been a fans of Bugs' music for 30 years and am deeply saddened to hear of his passing. His music could always make me happy when I was sad, chill me out when I was angry. The man could cimply move your musical soul. Rest well Bugs. Thanks for the music and the memories. Close
Another Six-Stringer's Gone Home / Larry Caskey (Pal & fellow musician )
To The Worldwide Family Of Bugs:
I'm sitting here in the broadcast booth of KAFM (Grand Junction, CO) & trying to think of a way to honor a great guy & musician during my radio show (Lonesome Larry's Lava Lamp Lounge). I finally decided the best thing to do would be to do what fellow programmer & friend Jimmy Rabbit would do & let his music do the talking.
I first saw him live at the Texas Opry House in Houston in the mid-seventies. I was aware of his prowess on guitar but was unprepared for what was to unfold. I was so blown away by his chops, tone & feel that after the third song I stood up & shook his hand. An irate bouncer was giving me grief but Bugs told him to cool it!
After moving to Colorado I saw him in Boulder, Denver & Evergreen. One of my most prized possessions is a signed concert poster from the Boulder Theater. He took the time to visit with me & introduce his family & band mates after playing his ass off for three hours.
Adios, amigo! We'll see you bye & bye & have one hell of a jam!

Before the Gig I met him for autographing and talking and I was impressed of his kindness. Years later I saw him again in vienna and he could remember me.

I first met Bugs in 1996. I had heard of him since I was a teenager from local guitar slingers. My wife and I went to see them at Poor David's, as Keith Jones is her cousin. I was suffering greatly from carpel tunnel. And was very depressed by not being able to play. Here is this guy who is my dads age. Shredding the crap out of a red PRS. He played for 2 hours before he stopped. I left there mentally healed. Bought a PRS , 6 months later. I could play it without hurting. Bugs did for me what no shrink could have done. Had my hands repaired in 99 . I have every cd of Bugs. I still learn somthing new every time I listen to them. You will be missed!! The Dallas guitar show won't be the same. Thanks again your student forever!!' Muddy h2o Close

My prayers & condolences go out to Bugs' family & close circle of friends. I had the honor to meet Bugs, Buddy & Kieth in Las Vegas and was asked to join him at his table. He was a true gentleman, professional musician and just simply, the type of person that made you feel good just being in his presence. People of his caliber are far & few between, I consider myself one of the lucky ones to have been able to meet and talk a while with him. Rest peacefully Bugs, you've earned it. Close
Zigler Productions will miss you Bugs / David Haig (Fan)
Bugs was a legend we all grew up going to see in the late 70's and early 80's in the Dallas Fort Worth area. Zigler Productions was a small production company we formed that was 1st to present Metallica and Raven to Tyler, Texas Aug 22, 1983 and on many occasions got to work with the great Bugs Henderson doing stage lighting for some of his performances in the DFW and Tyler areas. My former partner got to see Bugs for the last time last summer in San Diego and was fortunate enough to snap a few pictures with Bugs for our archives.
I saw Bugs at Zoo World (KZEW 98 FM) and I was in awe from that time forward, later I saw him open for Johnny Winter at McFarland SMU and many times afterwards. Bugs Henderson, Jimmy Wallace, Matt Tapp, Eric Johnson, Stevie Ray Vaughn and many more great Texas Tornado's makes me proud to have been a part of the Texas music scene and humble to have had to privilege to just be near such enormous talent. I can still remember being at the private party Grand Opening of the Dallas Hard Rock Cafe with Bugs Henderson tearing it up on stage while sitting next to Ted Nugent who was jamming to Bugs like all the rest of us, what a night.
GOD Bless you BUGs and say hello to Jimi Hendrix up there!!
